Deacon M Johnston
Deacon was called to the bar in 2024. He previously gained experience as a solicitor with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. Prior to that, he was the Associate to his Honour Justice Philip Morrison on the Queensland Court of Appeal. Deacon maintains a broad commercial practice, and is experienced in taxation law, trade practice law, industrial and employment law, contract law, succession law, building and construction disputes, and various other areas. He is an experienced advocate, having appeared in State and Federal Courts, tribunals, and mediations.
Deacon obtained a Bachelor of Laws with Distinction from the University of Southern Queensland whilst juggling full time work. This evidences Deacon’s unquestionable commitment. His tenacious and determined approach to litigation ensures that he leaves no stone unturned in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Deacon is on the sessional academic list at both the Queensland University of Technology, and the University of Southern Queensland.
